Sam was one of the USS Enterprise crew abducted by the Gorn in Strange New Worlds season 2's finale. However, it's possible that Sam is seen firing a phaser rifle inside the Gorn's ship in a quick moment in Strange New Worlds season 3's trailer.
It's unclear how much Lt. Sam Kirk will appear in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 - especially since it seems there will be plenty of Lt. James T. Kirk in the new episodes - but, unlike Captain Batel, Sam is safe from an untimely death. Canonically, Sam Kirk doesn't die until Star Trek: The Original Series season 1, episode 29, "Operation -- Annihilate!" Not appearing in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3's trailer doesn't mean Sam Kirk or Captain Batel will die, but it's still a more ominous harbinger for Batel.
