2 Bruins Due For Raises This Off-Season

The Boston Bruins are entering a very important off-season. After a disappointing 2024-25 season, Bruins management will now look to improve the team's roster and get them back to being a playoff club.

Who Are The Boston Bruins' 2025 Free Agents?

The Bruins have plenty of money to work with this off-season, so the possibility of them signing a few notable free agents is certainly there. However, they also have two pending restricted free agents who are undoubtedly due for raises this off-season. Let's discuss each player now.

Morgan Geekie

Geekie is undoubtedly going to receive a notable raise from his $2 million salary on his next contract. The 26-year-old forward was one of the Bruins' best stories from their 2024-25 campaign, as he had a spectacular season. In 77 games, the 6-foot-3 forward posted new career highs with 33 goals, 24 assists, and 57 points. This included ending the campaign on an 11-game point streak, posting nine goals and 10 assists over that span.

Due to his excellent play down the stretch, Geekie cemented himself a spot on the Bruins' first line and has become a key part of their forward group in the process. Thus, a nice raise for the 2017 third-round pick should be on the way. He has earned it.

Mason Lohrei

Lohrei is another pending RFA on the Bruins who should be getting a higher salary on his next contract this off-season. His entry-level deal has come to an end, and he should see a bit of an increase from his $925,000 cap hit.

Like many young NHL defensemen, Lohrei had some growing pains with the Bruins during his second season. However, he also produced solid offense from the blueline, scoring five goals and leading all Bruins defensemen with 28 assists and 33 points in 77 contests. This will help his case of getting a raise from the Original Six club.
