The Boston Celtics shared updates on both Kristaps Porzingis and Sam Hauser heading into Game 2 against the New York Knicks. Porzingis, who left Game 1 early with a non-COVID illness, is listed as probable to play, while Sam Hauser is listed as doubtful with a right ankle sprain.
Hauser had to be helped off of the parquet after colliding with Knicks forward OG Anunoby on a closeout. He didn't return and later left TD Garden with a wrap on his right foot, according to John Karalis.
Joe Mazzulla says that Kristaps Porzingis is 'Day-to-Day'
Earlier in the afternoon on Tueday, Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla gave reporters an update on Porzingis' sickness. "He's a little bit better," he explained. "We'll see how he feels. Just kind of day-to-day."
Though KP didn't return to the game after leaving the court about halfway through the second quarter, he did make an appearance during the team's halftime warmup. He was out on the floor, moving around pretty normally, and looked to be getting ready to start the second half.
Of course, Al Horford wound up starting and playing that majority of the second half in the big Latvian's place.
Porzingis missed eight games earlier this year, when he was sideline with an illness after the All-Star break. Mazzulla shared that he didn't know if the current sickness was related, but did explain that KP has been "working through it since he's gotten back."
The status of both players will be more clear on Wednesday as Game 2 grows closer.
