2 Reasons Matt LaFleur Just Hit the Brakes on Practice

The Green Bay Packers training camp has been eventful, with lots of highlights and intriguing and talented personalities coming together to prepare the team for the upcoming 2025 NFL season. Just like the other 31 teams, the Packers’ training camp has been a grind, following their 11-win season in 2024 and playoff appearance.

Although some starting roles are virtually locked up, like Jordan Love as the top quarterback and running back Josh Jacobs as the chief option out of the backfield as Green Bay’s RB1.

On Friday, though, the Packers didn’t have the usual practice length for a couple of reasons.

The Packers are holding the annual Family Night on Saturday and with bodies banged-up, head coach Matt LaFleur felt it was just the right thing to do.

“It would be a combination of both,” said LaFleur about the shortened practice (via the Packers website). “This is kind of what we had scheduled anyways, knowing that tomorrow night those guys will get after it pretty good.”

Green Bay Packers have quite a list of injured players amid training camp

The Packers saw another player get hurt on Friday, with running back Emmanuel Wilson leaving practice with a lower-body injury. With running back MarShawn Lloyd already out with a groin injury he suffered on Monday, the Packers surely don’t need another player in the backfield going down with a health issue.

Others who are hurt are cornerback Nate Hobbs, offensive lineman Travis Glover, cornerback Kamal Hadden, defensive end Arron Mosby, wide receiver Sam Brown Jr. and left tackle Rasheed Walker.
