Next year’s NFL draft should be an exciting one for Cleveland Browns fans as the team finally has a first-round draft pick again. The last time they did, GM Andrew Berry selected CB Greg Newsome II. The Browns also traded up for LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft.
Owusu-Koramoah had an amazing breakout year in 2023 while Newsome played well enough to have his fifth-year option picked up by the team for 2025. Only two other selections from 2021, OL James Hudson III and LB Tony Fields II, have not been released by the team at least once.
The 33rd Team created a redraft of the 2021 NFL draft (a different form of an NFL mock draft) which saw JOK selected with the 22nd pick by the Tennessee Titans and Newsome selected by the New Orleans Saints with the 28th pick, two spots lower than originally picked by Cleveland.
With Owusu-Koramoah off the board, safety Jevon Holland was chosen for the Browns at 26.
Holland was originally selected with the fourth pick in the second round by the Miami Dolphins. In three seasons, Holland has become one of the better young free safeties in the NFL.
Having JOK selected 30 picks higher than originally drafted and Newsome drafted just two spots lower means Cleveland had a really good draft in 2021. While every team (and a lot of fans) want more out of draft classes, getting two very good starting-level players and two backups is solid work in a single draft group.
