3 Bruins Who Must Bounce Back To Save Season

The Bruins need these players to step up once the break is over.

The Boston Bruins are officially on their break for the 4 Nations Face-Off. They are entering the break on a poor note, suffering two deflating losses in a row where they gave up leads in the third period.

The Bruins are continuing to hurt their playoff chances with each loss. If they hope to turn things around, they will need some of their players to heat up. Let's discuss three who need to bounce back.

Bruins' Charlie Coyle, a center most his career, at right wing again against Capitals

Elias Lindholm

The Bruins signed Elias Lindholm to a seven-year, $54.25 million contract this past off-season. The expectation was that he would solve their issues down the middle, but that has just not been the case. In 57 games, he has just 10 goals and 19 assists.

While Lindholm's numbers are lower than expected, he has shown signs of bouncing back as of late. The 30-year-old center has two goals and five points over his last six games, which is a step in the right direction. Let's see if he can build on this after the break.

Trent Frederic

Trent Frederic has been the subject of trade rumors all season, and the Bruins' latest struggles are not helping them go away. However, as long as he is a Bruin, the Original Six club will need him to get things back on track.

Frederic is having a disappointing season, posting eight goals, seven points, and a team-worst minus-13 rating in 55 games. Frederic's secondary scoring has not been there this season, and the Bruins need it to come back to help their playoff chances.

Charlie Coyle

Charlie Coyle stepped up in a big way last season, posting 25 goals and 60 points in 82 games. However, his offensive game has taken a big step in the wrong direction this season, as he has just 20 points in 57 games. He also has just one point and a minus-5 rating over his last six games.

Coyle plays top-six minutes and is one of Boston's most important forwards, so they undoubtedly need him to heat back up after the break.
