The Tampa Bay Lightning's playoff run ended quickly this spring, as they lost to the Florida Panthers in just five games in the first round. Now, the Lightning have some decisions to make when it comes to their roster.
The Lightning will likely be making some changes to their group, and it is possible that they will let some of their pending unrestricted free agent walk. Let's look at three players who the Bolts could move on from now.
Cam Atkinson
Cam Atkinson is a pending UFA who the Lightning will likely move on from. The 35-year-old winger was scratched often this season and was also sent down to the Syracuse Crunch at times, even though he did not play a game with the AHL squad when on their roster. Thus, it certainly seems likely that the Lightning won't bring him back.
Atkinson played in 39 games for the Lightning this season, posting four goals, five assists, and a minus-4 rating.
Luke Glendening
Glendening is another pending UFA forward who the Lightning could let walk this summer. It would not be too surprising if the Lightning looked to find a younger upgrade for their fourth-line center role, whether that is through free agency or trade.
Glendening posted four goals, three assists, 105 hits, and a minus-9 rating in 77 games this season with Tampa Bay.
Nick Perbix
Perbix is another Lightning player who could be on the move this summer. The 26-year-old is one of the more notable pending UFA right-shot defensemen in a weak market this year, so he could end up seeing what offers are out there. The Lightning could also look to improve their roster elsewhere with the limited cap space they have, rather than bringing back Perbix.
Perbix suited up in 74 games this season with the Lightning, where he had six goals, 19 points, and a plus-8 rating.
