Brock Purdy signed a five year, $265 million contract with the San Francisco 49ers last week, making him the highest paid 49er in franchise history.
Purdy's contract extension talks have been a hot topic this offseason, with projections ranging from $50-60 million annually. Now that the deal is done and the dust is settled, Purdy and the 49ers can focus on the road ahead.
Purdy appeared on Murph and Markus on KNBR on Thursday, discussing a wide range of topics from boss boats, to golf, to hot dogs. They also made sure to touch upon the gridiron, asking Purdy if he believes he is a top-10 quarterback in the NFL.
Purdy initially answered with a two-word response of, "Yes sir." ... before expanding just a bit.
"Yeah, for sure, I think I'm a top-10 quarterback," Purdy continued. "I'll leave it at that. I'm not going to create a list or anything right now."
These comments came a day after Purdy's press conference where he discussed his deal, including his reflection of his football journey.
Purdy also discussed some of his idols and influences growing up, the players he wanted to be, but also emphasized the hard work necessary to reach those lofty goals.
"So, there's just been a process to this whole thing in life,'' he said. "That's what I'm trying to wrap my head around is, as a kid, obviously you see all these guys on TV, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and you want to be that one day. And for me, what I've realized, it just doesn't happen overnight, you've got to go through good, bad, tough times, the hard workouts, all the things to get there and how you respond to adversity and all the things.''
Purdy's latest responses? A $265 million contract and a "yes-sir'' confidence level.
