49ers' George Kittle Rips Media For 'Wrong' Reports

The outspoken 49ers All-Pro George Kittle is speaking out - and lashing out - at the folks behind what he says are erroneous reports.

Wrong. Wrong. And maybe more wrong.

The San Francisco 49ers are focused on the upcoming NFL Draft that begins on Thursday and extends through Saturday while at the same time getting started with offseason voluntary workouts.

And some of the veterans are in need of some attention, too.

A standout one is quarterback Brock Purdy, who enters the final year of his rookie deal. ... and he showed up to work on Tuesday.

But tight end George Kittle is also an important piece of the offense, and is also entering the final season of his five-year, $75 million deal signed back in August 2020.

There have been reports that suggest that Kittle is staying away from workouts in protest (logical), that he wants to be the highest-paid tight end in the game (a worthy discussion) and even that he wants to be traded.

But the outspoken All-Pro is speaking out - and lashing out - at the folks behind those reports.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported on Wednesday that “Kittle wants to become the NFL's highest-paid tight end, per a league source. Trey McBride reset the market earlier this offseason; the 25-year-old inked a four-year, $76 million pact with Arizona.

“San Francisco’s offers to Kittle have thus far been rebuffed, and the two sides remain apart as Kittle, who will be 32 in October, enters the final year of his deal. I’m told no trade request has been made, but other teams are keeping an eye on it. "

What did the 31-year-old Pro Bowler say about that?

“Your source is incorrect,” Kittle replied on X to Russini’s tweet.

Another website wrote that Kittle wants to be traded to the Tennessee Titans.

"Wrong,'' he responded.

It is believed that Kittle and the 49ers are "far apart" in discussions for a new deal.

"Warner and the 49ers have yet to have any substantive talks about a possible extension, but the veteran team leader is likely to report," Mike Silver posted on X. "Kittle, heading into the final year of a five-year, $75-million deal, is much more of a longshot, as he and the 49ers remain far apart in discussions about a new deal.''
