49ers get good news on Nick Bosa for season finale as Kyle Shanahan offers insight on Deebo Samuel injury

The San Francisco 49ers' list of absentees for their season finale against the Arizona Cardinals is predictably lengthy, but it does not feature defensive end Nick Bosa.

49ers get good news on Nick Bosa for season finale as Kyle Shanahan offers insight on Deebo Samuel injury

Bosa had missed the first two practices of the week because of a knee injury, but he is off the injury report for the Week 18 matchup, clearing him as the Niners look to end a hugely disappointing campaign on a high.

But the 49ers will be without several of their best players against Arizona, while tight end George Kittle's participation in the game is up in the air.

Kittle is questionable with ankle and hamstring injuries, while cornerback Deommodore Lenoir (shoulder) and wide receiver Deebo Samuel (ribs/wrist) both join quarterback Brock Purdy in being ruled out.

Samuel has been talked up as a possible cap casualty for the 49ers in the offseason ever since San Francisco took trade calls on the 2021 All-Pro during last year's draft.

It remains to be seen whether the 49ers will have any interest in moving on from Samuel, but Shanahan offered insight on the injury that suggests any team that may try to tempt San Francisco with an offer can have no concerns about his health.

"He's hurting right now but he'll be alright a few weeks after the season," said Shanahan.

Samuel's absence is a blow to Joshua Dobbs as he fills in for Purdy at quarterback, but Dobbs could still have the benefit of protection from his right tackle Colton McKivitz, who is questionable with a knee injury.

Charlie Heck and Austen Pleasants, both signed last month, will start at the two tackles spots.
