The San Francisco 49ers will have a number of decisions to make after the 2025 season, including a few free agents the team will have to pay or let walk.
One of them is a wide receiver who will be looking to prove this year that he deserves to get paid.
In a recent article by Brad Berreman of Niners Noise, he says that Jauan Jennings is playing for his future with the franchise in 2025, as his play this season could make or break his chances of signing a new contract with the team.
"Jennings had a breakout season last year, and he will be inherently driven to prove it was not a fluke this year beyond his contract status," Berreman wrote. "The 49ers showed how much they valued him with a two-year, $15.39 million contract extension in 2024, then he delivered when opportunity struck... Jennings will turn 28 years old in July. So this might be his one chance at a noteworthy multi-year deal, and you can bet he knows it."
The 49ers traded away star wide receiver Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders earlier this offseason, so someone is going to need to step up in his place.
Jennings is a prime candidate to take his spot.
He finished this past season with 975 yards and six touchdowns, and he did so while starting in just 10 games. If he is given more consistent snaps in the starting lineup, there is not telling what he will be able to do.
Jennings will be hoping he can improve on his 2024 season and prove that he is worth the money.
