San Francisco 49ers icon Jerry Rice tells Tampa Bay Bucs star Mike Evans, "You know that I'm pulling for you right?"
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have one of the best wideouts of this generation in Mike Evans ... and one of the most consistently great as well.
And in 2025? The plan is for him to be consistent and to be great again - at a record-setting pace.
In a recent article by PFF's Ryan Smith, he lists 10 NFL veterans who are continuing to play at a high level, and one of the players he mentions is the Bucs' legendary wide receiver.
"Evans made history last season, tying Jerry Rice for the most consecutive seasons topping 1,000 receiving yards despite missing time with a hamstring injury," Smith wrote. "He was elite in Tampa Bay’s wild-card playoff loss to the Commanders, dominating longtime rival Marshon Lattimore. He caught all six targets thrown his way in the matchup for 84 yards and a touchdown while also drawing a defensive pass interference penalty."
Despite missing three games, Evans was still able to get to 1,000 yards on the season and maintain his streak, tying an all-time great in Jerry Rice for the most consecutive seasons hitting the mark.
What comes next? An 11th-straight 1,000-yard effort?
"Hopefully I can do it ... early," Evans said recently, alluding to the fact that he needed the final play in the final game to get it done in 2024.
And by the way ... Rice is all for it.
San Francisco 49ers icon Rice told Evans in a feature by The Players' Tribune, "You know that I'm pulling for you right?"
Evans response to legend: "That means more to me than you could ever know, so I appreciate that, O.G. You are the original. ... This is so surreal right now. This is surreal for me that you know who I am."
Last year, the 31-year-old receiver finished the season with 1,004 yards, and was able to get 11 touchdowns, which was tied for fourth-most in the NFL this past season. He will be hoping he can stay healthy and help the team improve in 2025. … while hopefully chasing similar stat production. ...
And while chasing Rice as well.
