Brock Purdy’s exceptional performance has made him one of the most impressive quarterbacks in the league. Yet, many believe that the San Francisco 49ers do not deserve him. Purdy’s rookie contract with the 49ers will expire after the 2025 season. That said, rumors have been swirling around the QB already.
The 49ers are trying to seal a long-term deal with Purdy, but it’s still in the negotiation process. San Franciso will try to finalize a deal with Brody before the NFL draft in 2025. Fans are happy to learn that the team is in the process of negotiating.
While many are happy to see him remain in San Francisco, NFL insider Grant Cohn thinks the 49ers don’t appreciate what Brock Purdy brings to the table. In a recent video, Cohn touched upon Purdy’s future with the team and praised him for being one of the best quarterbacks.
“Brock Purdy isn’t just a good QB, he’s a great QB. He is a top 5 QB in the league, and the 49ers just don’t appreciate what he brings to the table,” Cohn said.
Derek Carr’s injury has linked Brock Purdy to the New Orleans Saints. Cohn believes that the Saints should make an offer to the 49ers to obtain Purdy.
“They should call the Niners and offer them… maybe the first-round pick. Offer the ninth pick and then pay Brock Purdy $60,000,000, because you don’t get the opportunity to get a QB like that very much,” Cohn continued.
Pittsburgh Steelers Are Also Rumored To Be In On Brock Purdy
It’s natural for several teams to be linked to a player like Brock Purdy. The 49ers have competition from the Pittsburgh Steelers, and a former NFL player thinks they can pull off a strong deal. Chris Candy thinks the Steelers can use T.J. Watt to lure Purdy.
“Using T.J. Watt as a way to be able to pry Brock Purdy from San Francisco. The 49ers gutted at defense, being able to add some help for Fred Warner and Nick Bosa. T.J. Watt in that group. [Robert] Saleh now back there as the defensive coordinator,” Candy said.
The Steelers can make good use of Brock Purdy, but they might not part ways with Watt. Likewise, the 49ers are doing their best to retain the QB. There’s plenty of demand for Purdy, but the 49ers have the best shot of retaining him for now.
