49ers linked to Deebo Samuel trade that makes absolutely no sense

The San Francisco 49ers have gone up against the Kansas City Chiefs in two of the last five Super Bowls. Unfortunately, neither match-up went the Niners' way and this year's loss was a heartbreaking defeat in overtime. Needless to say, the 49ers probably aren't going to want to do any favors for the Chiefs.

Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report, however, thinks the Niners should listen if the Chiefs ring them up inquiring about Deebo Samuel. The 49ers signed Samuel to a three-year extension through the 2025 season but they have plenty of questions they need to answer about the future of the position and their cap space situation.

Ballentine proposed the 49ers send Samuel to Kansas City to get his contract off the books and net a couple of draft picks in the process.

"One way out of their dilemma is to find a team that is willing to take on Deebo Samuel after June 1. The Niners would save a whopping $22 million against the cap in 2024 if they could find a trade partner.
Samuel has provided diminishing returns over the last two seasons but still had over 1,100 scrimmage yards and 12 touchdowns last season. Some of Samuel's success has been due to playing in a Kyle Shanahan system, but Reid is one of the best offensive minds in the game."

Why would the 49ers help the Chiefs out by giving them one of their best weapons?

Yes, the Niners are going to need to make a decision about what they want to do at wide receiver but trading Samuel to a team that's taken them down in two Super Bowls is not the answer to their problems. I'm sure the Chiefs would love to have Samuel in their offense, but the 49ers need to ignore doing business with them because, as we've seen, there's a good chance these two will be squaring off in the Super Bowl again in the near future.

The Chiefs can find their own wide receivers.
