49ers QB Brock Purdy highly critical of Week 7 performance

The San Francisco 49ers (3-4) suffered their fourth loss of the season in Week 7 to the Kansas City Chiefs (6-0).

49ers QB Brock Purdy highly critical of Week 7 performance

The 49ers seemed to be playing catch up all game as injuries continued to mount. Wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk (knee), Deebo Samuel (illness) and Jauan Jennings (hip) all left the game in the first half.

That put more pressure on quarterback Brock Purdy, and it did not go well.

Purdy finished the game with just 212 passing yards and three interceptions while recording a career-low 36.7 passer rating. He did rush for 27 yards and two touchdowns, but he was still very unhappy with his performance.

"I think I've just got to play better for sure just with my throws and some decisions. That's pretty simple," Purdy said via Jordan Elliott of NBC Sports Bay Area. "I've obviously got to watch the film again and stuff, but my instant reaction is I've got to play better. The second interception was on me. ...It was on me."

San Francisco has now lost five straight games to the Chiefs, but if it hopes to get a chance at redemption, it's going to have to find a spark on offense to turn its season around.

Samuel and Jennings should be back next week, but the same can't be said for Aiyuk, who is feared to have torn his ACL.

If that is the case, Aiyuk would be out for the season and the 49ers will be without another one of their offensive stars.

It's been a rough start to the season for San Francisco, but head coach Kyle Shanahan doesn't want to make excuses. He just wants to see his players play better.

"We didn't do anything really good on offense," Shanahan said, via Elliott. "I know he'd love to have all three of those picks back. Brock's been playing unbelievable this year, done some good things on offense this year, but today wasn't that day."

The 49ers will have a chance to rebound and get back to .500 in Week 8 when they host the Cowboys (3-3) on "Sunday Night Football."

San Francisco has won three straight games against Dallas.
