Jalen Graham had been on the Washington Commanders practice squad
The San Francisco 49ers announced they brought back 2023 7th-round draft pick Jalen Graham to a one-year deal.
Fred Warner is day-to-day with an ankle injury, so perhaps this is insurance during the week for Warner if he’s unable to practice.
But this move is more likely related to Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, who left Sunday’s game late with an undisclosed injury. Kyle Shanahan did not mention DFF’s injury during Monday’s conference call, so it’s unclear whether Flannigan-Fowles is OK or not.
Kyle’s update, 3:06 p.m. PT: The 49ers released defensive tackle Shakel Brown from their practice squad. That’s another sign that Kalia Davis should return, perhaps as early as this week.
Graham is a familiar face that should be able to slide into any practice situation with relative ease. After being released from the 49ers on August 27, he was scooped up the next day by the Washington Commanders and has been on their practice squad ever since.
We’ll have a better idea whether this is related to Warner or Flannigan-Fowles injuries on Wednesday when Shanahan holds his first press conference.
The 49ers have an open roster spot, which means it’s unlikely the team opens Ricky Pearsall’s practice window. Shanahan said he fully expects defensive tackle Kalia Davis’s window to be opened. He also said that Davis is “close” to returning.
