49ers’ response to Brandon Aiyuk trade calls revealed by insider

The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly brushing aside trade calls about wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk — at least for now.

49ers’ response to Aiyuk trade calls revealed by insider

As NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported on Tuesday, the 26-year-old pass-catcher requested a trade as the two sides failed to agree on a contract extension.

However, while Aiyuk's request for a trade doesn't come as a major surprise after the long negotiations, the 49ers have reportedly been steadfast in their response to trade calls from around the league.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, teams that have contacted San Francisco with trade interest for Aiyuk are being told the franchise has "no intention" of moving him.

As Schefter pointed out, the 49ers are no strangers to this situation. Deebo Samuel and Robbie Gould requested trades before coming to terms on new deals. Whether that same result will hold true with Aiyuk remains to be seen. With training camp set to get underway next week, it'd be a surprise if he's spotted in attendance.

Overall, the 49ers' history in situations similar to this has been positive. It has often worked out with the two sides coming to terms on a deal, so if that's any indication, there should be some optimism about Aiyuk's future in San Francisco.
