49ers Ripped In NSFW Take For Brock Purdy Blame

San Francisco 49ers Jed York is blaming the cap casualties this offseason on having to get the salaries down for Brock Purdy's massive extension.

Three-time Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth is calling out San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York for blaming salary-cap casualties on Brock Purdy's contract extension. He believes the 49ers should have prepared for his day a while ago and it is solely the fault of the front office.

"That's (expletive)," Schlereth said on his podcast in a NSFW take.

He went on: "It's not Brock Purdy's responsibility to manage the 49ers' cap. It's the 49ers' responsibility to manage that."

Schlereth wasn't done, not by a long shot.

"You talk about all these guys, this mass exodus," Schlereth said. "Here's what happened. They had a bunch of injuries last year, and they had guys that replaced those injured guys. They came to the realization that, 'You know what? The guys that replaced the injured guys, they're young, they're inexpensive, and by the way, they're really good.'"

The 49ers need Purdy as he is the ignition to the offense. Without Purdy, they would need to find a new franchise quarterback comfortable in Kyle Shanahan's complex offense. That is not easy to do.

San Francisco needs to get Purdy's contract done posthaste. Then they have to manage its cap and sign some players to put around Purdy so they can return to form of 2023 when they went to the Super Bowl.

Purdy is looking for a four or five-year contract extension worth an annual average value of $55-60 million per season. He expects to be paid like a top five quarterback in that salary neighborhood. Of the top-paid quarterbacks, only Joe Burrow has taken his team to a Super Bowl besides Purdy.
