The San Francisco 49ers continue to re-tool and turnover their roster this offseason.
With key pieces leaving in free agency, the team is just a shell of the Super Bowl team from just over a year ago.
The team still has to lock down quarterback Brock Purdy to what could be a record-setting contract, but there are other parts of the roster that need attention.
On Tuesday, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Media reported the 49ers are finalizing a deal to sign defensive back Siran Neal to a two-year contract.
Neal was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round in 2018 and he played there for six years before signing with the Dolphins last offseason. He's played in 114 regular season games and 10 playoff matchups while appearing mainly in special teams plays.
Across seven seasons with two teams, Neal has posted 126 total tackles with 94 solo and four for loss. He's added three quarterback hits, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Neal will most likely assist the 49ers on special teams while adding a bit of defensive back depth too.
