5 mind-blowing Philadelphia Eagles postseason records that are worth celebrating

The [Philadelphia] Eagles have landed in New Orleans! They've talked to the media all week. We're just days away from the Super Bowl, and hopefully, one of the best conclusions to a season in franchise history.

5 mind-blowing Philadelphia Eagles postseason records that are worth celebrating

They ended their regular-season march with a 14-3 record. They went three for three during the postseason, vanquishing the Green Bay Packers, L.A. Rams, and Washington Commanders. That's not all. In their quest for the Lombardi Trophy, the team has cemented themselves in the record books.

This has been a postseason to remember, one littered with great team and individual accomplishments. They have set the bar high for every team that follows them.

They will join the immortals if they place the cherry on top by winning the Super Bowl. Let's celebrate some of the milestones they have achieved along the way.

Jalen Hurts & Saquon Barkley are the first duo in NFL playoff history to score three or more rushing touchdowns in the same game.

The Eagles put the nail in the Washington Commanders' coffin almost two weeks ago for the NFC's crown. They scored eight whopping touchdowns. Six of them were scored by Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley.

Barkley's first two touchdowns came in the first quarter on consecutive possessions. The third was in the fourth quarter just before he was taken out of the game to preserve his health.

Hurts had a nine-yard run, putting the game in his own hands. His remaining two touchdowns were all thanks to the infamous, and always controversial 'Tush Push'.

The Eagles scored the most points by any team in NFC Championship Game history.

Did we mention they scored eight touchdowns? The Eagles scored 55 points against the Washington Commanders. Say that out loud. It sounds more impressive each time you do so.

That's the highest point total scored by any team in a Championship Game. It surpasses an NFC-best 49-point outburst by the Carolina Panthers vs Cardinals in 2016. It also bests the highest AFC Championship Game total, the Buffalo Bills' 51-3 demolishing of the Los Angeles Raiders.

Jalen Hurts has the most rushing touchdowns by a QB in NFL postseason history.

In 2022, Hurts scored five rushing touchdowns in three postseason games. This season, he has four with one game remaining.

That's nine career rushing TDs ahead of Super Bowl LIX for you math wizzes out there. Hurts has surpassed San Francisco's Hall of Fame quarterback, Steve Young.

Nick Sirianni has secured the most wins in his first 4 seasons (regular & postseason).

Nick Sirianni has gotten a lot of hate in the past, but everyone hates Philly, remember?

He's clearly winning, and that's all that matters. He now has the most wins by a head coach in their first four seasons. With 52 regular and postseason wins, it's hard to make an argument for the departure many have asked for.

The Eagles' three postseason victories have placed Sirianni above Matt LaFleur, Jim Harbaugh, and John Harbaugh, all with 49 wins.

The Eagles are the first team to reach the Super Bowl without a turnover.

The Eagles have turned the ball over 15 times this season. Only five other teams have had fewer. sadly. one of those teams is the Kansas City Chiefs (14).

Good teams operate at peak efficiency in key moments though, and Philly has taken better care of the football during the postseason. They haven't thrown a single interception, nor have they lost a fumble. No other team in Super Bowl history can say that.

Whatever Sunday's outcome turns out being, the Eagles deserved to qualify to represent the NFC in New Orleans. There will likely be even more records to commemorate... on their road to victory!
