8 biggest takeaways from Lions loss to Buccaneers, Lions defense dominates while offense takes a nap

What an ugly day for the Detroit Lions. Detroit just couldn't get anything done on offense and they wind up losing a very close game to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a score of 20-16.

Goff Report

What a bad day from Goff. This was one of his worst games as the Lions quarterback. He now has three picks in two games. Not a good look for him. When he wasn't throwing picks, he was off on throws all day. He threw the ball 55 times and only completed 34 of those passes for no touchdowns and two interceptions.  He needs to bounce back and get out of this little slump. The Lions need him to show up.

Dead Zone

The Lions had a ton of red zone issues on Sunday. Their first four trips there resulted in three field goals and a 10-second run off. The Lions should have dominated this game, but it just took them so long to find the end zone. This is something they need to get fixed ASAP. The Lions were second in red touchdown percentage last year, they need to get back to that.

The Lions went 1-7 in total. Just an absolute mess for the offense.

Aidan Sackinson

This dude absolutely went off with 4.5 sacks. There could have been more. Hutchinson had 11 pressures in Week 1, he might have had more in this game. He is putting himself firmly into the Defensive Player of the Year conversation. If he can stay on this path, the sky is the limit.

"I totally screwed my own team"

The Lions had a really bad first half on offense. I mean really bad. Two trips to the red zone and couldn't get one into the end zone and then the Lions completely blew a chance to at least get points on the board when they their special teams unit half on the field while Goff was trying to spike the ball. Put all that stuff behind you and please don't ever do it again.

Campbell came out and took the heat in the second half and said that he screwed his team with the call to try to get the field goal unit out there fast. You have to love the accountability.

You had one guy to stop

The Bucs had eight receptions in the first half and seven of those went to one guy. Chris Godwin had seven catches for 117 yards and a touchdown in the first half. The Lions did a good job of taking Mike Evans out of the fold, but they did a bad job of covering the one guy that kept getting the ball thrown his way.
