After winning Super Bowl LIX last season, the Philadelphia Eagles appear to be in a great position to repeat as champions in the 2025 season. If there’s one thing that could stop them, it’s injuries, and so far, they are dealing with their fair share. On Sunday, though, the team was dealt a worrying update regarding star wide receiver A.J. Brown.
Last season, Brown was a crucial piece of the Eagles’ Super Bowl run, but on Friday, he was forced off the field with an unknown injury. It appears that the situation is somewhat serious because when the team returned to the practice field on Sunday, Brown was not in uniform, leading to some concern immediately arising among fans.
A.J. Brown Dealing with Hamstring Injury
In his first three seasons with Philly, Brown has solidified himself as one of the top wide receivers in the league. He’s earned three straight All-Pro Second Team selections, in addition to a pair of Pro Bowl selections. When the front office acquired him from the Tennessee Titans, the hope was that he would help take the offense to another level, and that’s precisely what he has done.
Even though he missed four games last season, Brown was still one of the most productive pass catchers in the league, as he racked up 67 receptions, 1,079 yards, and seven touchdowns for the Eagles. Add in 12 more catches for 163 yards and a pair of scores in the postseason, and it was another strong campaign for Brown.
Heading into 2025, Brown remains Jalen Hurts’ top option in the passing game, with DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, and Saquon Barkley also factoring into the mix. However, Brown is currently dealing with a hamstring injury, which resulted in him missing practice on Sunday. There’s no reason to panic yet, as it simply may be a maintenance day for Brown, but anytime a player misses time with injury, folks are going to notice.
“A.J. Brown left Friday’s practice early and he is not practicing at all on Sunday,” Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk wrote. “The Eagles say that he is dealing with a hamstring injury.”
Eagles Taking Cautious Approach with A.J. Brown

It’s still early in training camp, so Philadelphia isn’t going to push it with Brown when it comes to his injury situation. If he feels like he needs a day off to deal with an ailment, however minor it may be, the Eagles are going to give it to him. The team would rather have Brown healthy for the start of the regular season, so there’s no reason to force him to practice during training camp; the team largely knows what they are going to get from him.
For now, Brown’s injury situation isn’t truly worth worrying about, as Philly is playing it safe with their star wide receiver. The sooner he gets back on the field, though, the better, so fans will surely be keeping close tabs on him to see if he can return to practice at some point later this week after not participating on Sunday.
