The New Orleans Saints are still carving out their roster in Kellen Moore's first offseason. Meanwhile, a former MVP and future Hall of Fame quarterback is still on the market in Aaron Rodgers.
Aaron Rodgers' latest comments
Aaron Rodgers continues to create more and more mystery by the week. The Pittsburgh Steelers feel like the most likely landing spot for Rodgers' services in 2025, but nothing is nearly set in stone. Rodgers recently confirmed that concept.
Rodgers is considering his new team, retirement, and plenty of other factors when thinking about the rest of his pro career.
"Listen, this entire time I haven’t felt like I owed somebody any decision at some point. ... I’ve been upfront with them about that. If you need to move on, call me, by all means. ... There’s been no deadline. And yeah, I’ve talked to Mike (Tomlin) many times."
-- Rodgers on his playing future
Rodgers also mentioned that he is willing to play for $10 million this year. That would be an incredibly cheap price for whoever signed him for that sort of deal.
For the Saints, they have plenty of cap space to go that route, but would that make much sense for Kellen Moore? It does not feel like it - with Derek Carr having one foot out the door.
Saints' unknown future at quarterback
With the injury concern for Derek Carr (and his preferred exit if possible), Spencer Rattler is the only realistic starting QB option in New Orleans right now. Entering the 2025 NFL Draft, the Saints have one of the biggest needs at quarterback in the entire NFL.
We will see how they determine who will be in the QB room entering 2025 - because the questions continue to mount. I would be surprised if Rodgers is a realistic option, but you can truly never predict Mickey Loomis.
