The New York Jets season is in the tank at 3-9, but quarterback Aaron Rodgers has no intention of sitting out the remaining games - he wants to play.
With the season continuing to plummet south, there is a thought that interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich might opt to bench Rodgers for New York's final few games in favor of veteran Tyrod Taylor to try and give the offense some juice.
Ulbrich was stout in his thoughts, stating that he has full belief in Rodgers and that the four-time MVP winner gives his team the best chance to win football games.
And now Rodgers, who stated post the Seattle Seahawks loss that he wants to continue playing, has now doubled down on that thought.
"We get paid for 17 weeks, not 10, not 11, not five," Rodgers said on the Pat McAfee Show. "So if you're the starter, you want to play all the games, so that's how I feel. I want to be out there with my guys and battle as long as I feel healthy. My body feels as good as its felt whether fortunately or unfortunately for the situation.
"My body feels great, I want to be out there, I want to be out there with the guys, I want to battle. I have a lot of pride in playing."
Rodgers has zero intention of throwing in the towel for 2024.
While some might not see the benefit of having Rodgers, who hasn't played to anywhere near the level expected, play out the season, if he is to return in 2025, then building on that chemistry in the final few weeks could be beneficial.
The experiment with Rodgers hasn't worked, with the Jets showing glimpses of improvement in the middle of some horrendous play this season.
And with five games to go, Rodgers is determined to finish the fight, regardless of the season's outlook.
