NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will handpick the replacements for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Anthony Davis, who are both set to miss the 2025 NBA All-Star game.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Anthony Davis have both suffered major injuries that will keep them out for the foreseeable future. As a result, both stars are set to miss the NBA All-Star game. Chris Haynes is reporting that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will personally select two appropriate replacements for the two stars for the 2025 NBA All-Star game.
Antetokounmpo suffered a calf strain that will keep him out for an undisclosed period of time. As for Anthony Davis, he suffered a non-contact left adductor strain during the Mavericks' last game. As a result, he will several games, with Shams Charania reporting that he could miss more than a month of action.
Davis has been having a brilliant season, especially prior to being traded by the Lakers, averaging 25.7 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.2 blocks per game while shooting 52.8% from the field, 31.3% from the three-point line, and 78.6% from the free-throw line.
As for Giannis Antetokounmpo, he is averaging 31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 0.8 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 60.8% from the field, 18.8% from beyond the arc, and 57.7% from the free-throw line. He has had a great year, including an NBA Cup and MVP win with the Bucks.
Adam Silver will presumably select one All-Star replacement from the Eastern and Western Conference each. From the East, perhaps Silver might select Jarrett Allen, who has been a key piece for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season. He averages 13.6 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.9 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 69.7% from the field, and 74.6% from the free-throw line.
In the West, a candidate for selection could be Lauri Markkanen, who has been averaging 19.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game while shooting 42.4% from the field, 35.1% from the three-point line, and 86.4% from the free-throw line.
