Former UFC star Tyron Woodley is excited for the upcoming match-up between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. While many people are condemning the matchup, the former UFC contender believes it will be a good fight. He even made an interesting statement about how Tyson’s age is the only factor holding him back.

'Age is only reason he has a chance!' Jake Paul’s fight against 59-year-old Mike Tyson defended by former rival

Tyron Woodley recently set down for a conversation on Fighter vs. Writer. During the discussion, Jake Paul‘s former opponent said that the only factor favoring Paul was his age. Other than that, the heavyweight boxing legend is still as fearsome and dangerous as he once was. The one thing that everybody has reiterated was that if Mike Tyson got into the groove of his former self back in the eighties and nineties, it is over for young Jake Paul.

If [Tyson] has a flashback of a moment of a past fight, and he does that s--- to Jake, it’s a wrap. So that’s the fight. The age is the only reason why Paul even has a chance. That’s why it’s kind of an even fight. Tyron Woodley on Fighter vs. Writer

The two fighters were supposed to have already stepped into the ring. However, Tyson incurred an in-flight medical emergency, raising health concerns. Therefore, the fight was postponed to later this year in November. In the meantime, Jake Paul took on BKFC star, Mike Perry on the same day he was supposed to fight Tyson and beat him.

If the fight materialized, Tyson and Paul would have a 31-year age difference between the two. If rules remain the same, the two will fight eight two-minute rounds, with 14-ounce gloves sanctioned as a professional bout by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations.

Tyron Woodley says Mike Tyson may knock out Jake Paul

Nobody believes that Jake Paul cannot win against almost 60-year-old Mike Tyson. Not even Tyron Woodley. However, the former UFC star believes the heavyweight legend still has enough to put out his young boxing opponent.

During the discussion on Fighter vs. Writer, Woodley acknowledged that Jake Paul might win the fight, but so can Mike Tyson. Woodley interestingly said that Paul needs to fight Tyson the same way he fought Mike Perry if he wants to increase the odds of winning.

I still think Mike Tyson has enough in him to knock Jake out. Could Jake win? Yeah, Jake would have to fight Mike Tyson the same way he fought Mike Perry. Jab high, jab low, move.

Woodley said if ‘El Gallo’ fights Tyson that way, lands some good body jabs, and body punches, and starts to deplete the heavyweight legend, it may get him frustrated. Tyson may start swinging and tire himself out and then Paul could look into the later rounds to try and finish it off. However, Woodley said he saw a lot of different ways for Tyson to beat Paul. Now, it will be interesting to see if Mike Tyson can score another win on his professional record at the age of 58.
