Alexander Ovechkin is slower than ever in concerning new training video

Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals is one of the best players to ever step on the ice and he is arguably the greatest goal-scorer in NHL history.

Overall, he is just 41 goals away from tying Wayne Gretzky's record. Realistically, it will take him about two more years to accomplish this. However, that doesn't make the record any less impressive. At the end of the day, having more goals than Wayne Gretzky is something that no one thought would ever be possible. That said, he still needs to go out and score those goals, otherwise, getting close won't mean anything.

Recently, Ovi hit the ice so that the could break in some new skates. It was part of a workout with the Capitals, and as you are going to see below, the footage is just a tad concerning. We say this because Ovechkin has never looked slower than he does here.

Of course, this could just be a product of the fact that Ovi isn't going full tilt just yet. However, he is nearing 40 years old. Furthermore, he is currently heading into his 20th season in the NHL. When you combine those factors, it is easy to see how Ovechkin might be slowing down at this stage of the game.

The reality is simple. Guys like Crosby and Ovechkin are entering the twilight years of their careers. The nostalgia blinders make us think they are in their primes but they are not. Sure, they are still great at what they do, but nothing will bring back the late 2000s and early 2010s.
