Cleveland Browns have an exciting matchup in Week 1 when the Dallas Cowboys come to town to kick off the 2024 season.
When that happens, it’ll be a chance for Browns WR Amari Cooper to go up against his old team that he spent over three seasons with before being traded to Cleveland.
In the offseason before the 2022 season, the Browns sent a fifth-round pick to the Cowboys for Cooper in a trade they would do over and over again. Since then, Cooper has totaled 2,410 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns with the Browns in two seasons. He has played 32 of the possible 34 games in that time.
Cooper is coming off of a career-high 1,250 receiving yards in 2023 and earned his fifth Pro Bowl nod. At 29 years old, Cooper is still one of the very best route runners in the league. In nine seasons, Cooper has recorded at least 1,000 yards seven times.
Matching up with Dallas in Week 1, the Pro Bowl wideout will have the chance to start 2024 off with a bang against the team that opted they could no longer pay him. Trevon Diggs figures to be healthy in 2024, it’ll be him and Daron Bland that Cooper lines up against. Both are very good cornerbacks that will make Cooper earn what he gets in the game.
Sometimes going up against your former team can light a spark under a player and that’s what could possibly happen for the Browns when they suit up at home to begin the season in September.
