Amon-Ra St. Brown's thoughts on Brian Flores should make Vikings fans happy

Amon-Ra St. Brown made all Minnesota Vikings fans light up on Wednesday by offering some big praise for defensive coordinator Brian Flores on his podcast, "The St. Brown Podcast."

“In games, he runs the craziest defenses I’ve ever seen in my life," explained St. Brown when interviewing rookie Tai Felton, who was just drafted by the Vikings in the 3rd round this year.

Felton, who is a wide receiver, mentioned that the Vikings had been running a bit of what Flores has in store for the season in training camp.

"We were trying some of that stuff in training camp. So I was like 'oh yeah, this is some work right here'," laughed Felton when discussing what Flores has been putting in front of him this offseason.

The Vikings, who are looking to battle the Lions, Chicago Bears, and Green Bay Packers for the top spot in the NFC North, are running it back with Flores and a defense looking to do a lot better than allowing 335.4 yards per game.

Vikings get praise from St. Brown on Flores' defensive scheming

In 2024, the Vikings and Lions were going back and forth for supremacy in the NFC North, with Detroit eventually winning that right in the final game of the year against a Sam Darnold-led Minnesota team.

This year, the team is going to need to rely on their defense with budding stars like Andrew Van Ginkel and Byron Murphy Jr. to keep their team afloat as they're now trotting out a rookie quarterback under center.

St. Brown averaged 94.5 yards per game and tallied just one touchdown in two meetings between himself and the Vikings' defense led by Flores, and of course the Lions are naturally going to be familiar with Minnesota's defense given they play against one another so often in the NFC North.

The Lions' wide receiving duo of St. Brown and Jameson Williams will have to really show out against tougher defenses like that of the Vikings after the retirement of Frank Ragnow. His departure throws a major question mark into the Lions' offense as Jared Goff doesn't have the same level of protection that he did in 2024, nor do the Lions' running backs.
