Analyst Defends Deshaun Watson Amid Criticism

The Cleveland Browns have gone through a lot at the quarterback position.

Watson on field with Cleveland Browns as legal storm swirls around QB

For years, they’ve had to deal with a never-ending revolving door of quarterbacks, which is why it’s not much of a surprise to see their lack of success since being reinstated.

That’s also why ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Rizzo will continue to stand by Deshaun Watson amid his struggles.

Talking on his radio show, he claimed that as much as some fans would rather have Watson off of the team, he would still support him, just like he supports all Browns players.

Truth be told, trading for Watson was a bit of a controversial decision, as he was in the eye of the storm and right in the midst of a very complicated situation, legally speaking.

Unsurprisingly, that granted plenty of criticism both for him and the organization, and some people have wanted to see him fail ever since.

Watson hasn’t been able to make the desired impact in Cleveland yet, either because of his suspension, subpar play, or because of a season-ending injury.

Still, he’s the only choice the Browns have right now.

He’s still the same talented quarterback he was during his days with the Houston Texans, and he’s shown glimpses of that.

Nonetheless, the clock is definitely ticking on him and fans have a right to start losing their patience, so he must deliver in 2024 or the organization might be forced to make some tough decisions.
