Analysts Can’t Stop Putting Green Bay Packers WR Romeo Doubs In Trade Rumors

The Green Bay Packers have a wide receiver room full of young talent. One of the veteran receivers in the room is former fourth-round pick Romeo Doubs. He was a rookie during the last year of Aaron Rodgers and has been a favorite target of quarterback Jordan Love. However, with the additions of Matthew Golden and Savion Williams this year, NFL analysts cannot stop putting Doubs in trade rumors.

Green Bay Packers Romeo Doubs Trade Rumors

Over the past two weeks, it seems NFL analysts have a new Romeo Doubs-centered trade to pitch. In the past two weeks, analysts have pitched trade ideas to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders, and New York Jets. (There could be more, but those are the ones I have seen.) The thinking is that Doubs is about to need an extension, making him more expensive. Furthermore, there is a body of work that is attractive to teams.

In three seasons, he has caught 147 passes for 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns. Love has often targeted him in the red zone, showing that he has earned the trust of his quarterback. It is worth noting that the Green Bay Packers have given no indication they plan to move Doubs. All of the speculation comes from the current wide receiver room and a few other factors.

Why The Trade Buzz?

Outside of the looming extension, there are a few other reasons why analysts project the Green Bay Packers to move on from Romeo Doubs. Jayden Reed and presumably Matthew Golden will be higher on the depth chart. Tucker Kraft has emerged as a threat in the passing game as well. The Packers may decide to count on production from Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks, and Savion Williams rather than pay Doubs.

Doubs also has struggled with injuries, more specifically, concussions. He has already suffered two confirmed concussions, which have kept him out of games. Furthermore, the team suspended him for a game last year due to breaking a team rule. While there hasn’t been any known fallout from that incident, the Packers could be quietly looking to move on.

Final Thoughts

I wouldn’t expect the Green Bay Packers to do anything until they see how the season begins. If Golden fails to meet expectations, they might want to keep Doubs around. Having a receiver who has rapport with Love is a good thing, and sometimes it is nice to have options on the depth chart. Will the Packers listen to the plethora of analysts and move Doubs this season?
