Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Andrew Hawkins made a case on ESPN’s NFL Live for why current Bengals free agent receiver Tee Higgins should consider taking a deal from the organization, even if it isn’t the absolute maximum he can get.
Here’s what he said:
“I understand going to get your money, [and I] would never tell a player not to do that, but at the same time, when you sign with the Bengals in free agency... you will see the majority of your money in the contract. Once the Bengals value you at something, history shows that they will continue to pay you, even on the back end, when a lot of other teams will try to get out of those contracts as they get more expensive on the back end.”
Higgins is coming off a great finish to his season, when the Bengals won five in a row and did almost enough to get into the playoffs.
Still, the defense was a liability the entire year, which is why defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo was let go earlier this week. We discussed that move in the video below.
