With the second season premiering on Apr. 2, new cast member Catherine O'Hara of Beetlejuice and Home Alone fame, has been revealing her experience of joining the cast of the hit HBO video game adaptation series in the intensified second season.

As 'The Last of Us' Season 2 Premiere Gets Closer, Catherine O'Hara Discusses Her Character

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, O'Hara confirmed that she will play a new character created for The Last of Us in the "more intense" Season 2. Some knowledgeable fans have posed the idea that she's playing a therapist character who is helping Joel sort through the events of Season 1, but details about her character have not been confirmed.

"I have an odd relationship with Pedro's character. You don't quite know why she's got... well, she's got this edge to her, but it makes for some weird, good dark comedy, I think. So it's there. I never want to deny the gift of humor."

O'Hara also commented about how an actor shouldn't take the comedy out of the life of a dramatic character, since it makes for a rather dull portrayal of humanity. Learning about The Last of Us through her two sons who played the games, one of whom has become a set designer for the popular show, O'Hara confirmed that the second season will ramp up just like the second game did. The seasoned actress has given fans hope that there will be some dark comedy to go along with the dark plot.

'The Last of Us' Season 2 Will be Brutal

Picking up five years after the events of the first season, the award-winning HBO show is set to take an even darker turn like the controversial second game. Max recently released a trailer for the second season of the drama, which you can watch above, that shows off all the known, and some unknown, plot points that creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have cooked up. While Season 2 will largely follow the plot of the sequel game, Mazin and Druckmann have been open about how the show will certainly differ from the games.

It's hard to say what plot points and storylines will be omitted or changed, but the new season is confirmed to have new cast additions: Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, Young Mazino, Spencer Lord, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Danny Ramirez, and Jeffrey Wright. Whatever Mazin and Druckmann have up their sleeve surely won't disappoint with a cast like that.

With the ghosts of Joel's past hot on his tail, Pascal and Ramsey return to their iconic roles once more. And if you know, you know. Get ready to have our world rocked, shattered, or completely flipped on its head in the upcoming season of The Last of Us.
