Cassandra Wood, 30, best known from Nick Cummins’ season of “The Bachelor“, has shared heartbreaking news with her followers. The reality star & mom of one revealed on Instagram that she suffered a miscarriage just hours after her first pregnancy scan for her second child.
Posting a smiling photo from a night out with her husband, Tyson Davis, Wood opened up about the pain behind her smile.
“Behind the smile is heartbreak,” she wrote. “Friday started off as an exciting day as Tyson and I went in for our first pregnancy scan for our second baby. We left with some concerns but stayed hopeful. By Friday night, I had miscarried.”
The loss came just before Wood’s birthday weekend, when she & Davis had planned to share their happy news with friends. “We then had a weekend of plans to celebrate my birthday and share our exciting news, which obviously didn’t go to plan,” she said. “I’m sharing this as I don’t want to pretend everything is okay when it isn’t.”
Wood also shared a selfie from the day of the scan, showing Davis feeding their six-month-old son, Theodore “Teddy,” in the background.
Ending her post with a heartfelt message, Wood expressed compassion for others who have faced similar grief. “My heart breaks for anyone who has experienced this or has ever struggled to fall pregnant. You are not alone,” she wrote.
The couple welcomed Teddy in February, with Wood revealing at the time that his arrival came via emergency C-section. “Feeling so grateful and in the biggest love bubble with our little family,” she shared.
Wood and Davis announced their engagement in December 2022 after rekindling their romance in 2019. They first dated in 2017 before Wood’s appearances on “The Bachelor” and “Bachelor in Paradise”.
“I’ve known him for a couple of years, and we dated a little bit in 2015. We just met through rugby and being on the Northern Beaches because he’s a rugby player. But that relationship fizzled out because we were both quite young and not ready for a relationship,” Wood told Mamamia in 2019.
Not long after, Wood appeared on “Bachelor in Paradise”, where she developed feelings for ex-Bachelor Richie Strahan. That romance, however, was also short-lived.
Reflecting on their reunion, Wood once wrote, “I can gladly say I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.” Despite their recent heartbreak, the couple continues to share their love story with fans as they overcome a difficult chapter together.
