A host of beloved LGBTQ+ actors are joining forces for Sunny Dancer, a touching and humorous romantic comedy set to tug at the heartstrings. Leading the cast is The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey, who takes on the role of Ivy, a teenager reluctantly sent to a summer camp for young people affected by cancer.
At 17, Ivy is in remission and has no desire to spend her summer at what she dismissively calls “chemo camp”. As the days pass, Ivy finds herself forming unexpected friendships with a group of lovable misfits. Through shared experiences, dark humour, and a blossoming summer romance, she begins to embrace the camp in ways she never imagined.
Joining Ramsey in the star-studded cast is How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris, a long-time LGBTQ+ activist who publicly came out in 2006. Also on board is Jessica Gunning, fresh from her award-winning performance as Martha in Netflix’s Baby Reindeer. She came out 2022, announcing she is a “big old gay”.
Happy Valley star James Norton and Bridgerton actor Ruby Stokes are also set to feature, alongside Louis Partridge, best known for his role in Netflix’s Enola Holmes films.
The film will be directed by George Jaques, an exciting young British filmmaker making waves in the industry.
