The Bengals are placing an emphasis this offseason in protecting Joe Burrow.
The Cincinnati Bengals have several offensive weapons to utilize this upcoming season. With the ever-talented Ja'Marr Chase, and the newly re-signed Tee Higgins, they are set at the receiver position. They also have up-and-coming Chase Brown out of the backfield.
However, the main problem is whether or not Joe Burrow has the time to get through his progressions. The Bengals allowed 2.7 sacks per game last season, and Burrow often had to improvise on the run to avoid adding to that total.
David Latham, from Last Word on Sports, listed the Bengals as his favorite to land offensive tackle from the Kansas City Chiefs, Wanya Morris. Morris is far from polished at the tackle position, and showed it giving up 5 sacks in his 11 games starting for the Chiefs last season.
The Bengals already have two offensive tackles that should start the season at the position in Orlando Brown Jr and Amarius Mims, however adding more depth is never a bad thing to do. It also would probably not cost the team much to land Morris. It would more than likely only take a late-round pick.
The Bengals play in a very tough division, with some premier pass rushers such as Myles Garrett, TJ Watt, and Nnamdi Madubuike. They will need a strong offensive line if they are going to try and re-create some of their recent success. If that can pull it off, it will be an extensive battle at the position to ensure they have the right man for the job.
