The Boston Celtics could be looking at some cost-saving moves during the upcoming NBA offseason. After the team was sold, changes could be on the way.
A group led by Bill Chisholm, a managing partner at the Symphony Technology Group, purchased the Celtics for a staggering valuation of $6.1 billion.
When teams change owners, there are usually other moves that come along.
Keeping that in mind, one current star has been suggested as a potential trade candidate during the upcoming NBA offseason.
That star is none other than Jrue Holiday. He still has two guaranteed years left on his deal and a player option for a third year.
Dan Favale of Bleacher Report recently named Holiday as one of the most likely players to be traded by Boston.
"Rather than round this out with Pritchard, an aging Holiday and the three years and $104.4 million left on his deal make the cut if the Celtics are looking to cut costs ahead of the 2026 offseason guesstimate," Favale wrote.
He also mentioned two other names to keep an eye on as potential trade candidates. Both Xavier Tillman and Sam Hauser were listed as possible options as well.
Favale considered Kristaps Porzingis as a potential trade candidate, but dismissed that idea quickly.
"Kristaps Porziņģis' health could foist him onto this list, but the Celtics cannot hope to approximate what he does on the cheap unless the soon-to-be 39-year-old Al Horford (unrestricted) is getting younger," he wrote. "As an expiring contract next season, KP also allows for more malleable decision-making in 2026."
Holiday has fallen off a bit this season for the Celtics. He has played in 55 games, averaging 10.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
In addition, the veteran point guard has shot 43.7% from the floor and 33.3% from the 3-point line.
