In comparison to the big moves in the Western Conference, the Boston Celtics largely decided to stick with what they had. But they did make a couple of moves.
The Celtics traded away Jaden Springer for cost reasons, and then right at the deadline, they signed Torrey Craig as a free agent.
Craig had just been waived by the Chicago Bulls and adds a veteran presence to the Celtics defense that could come in handy during the post-season.
He has experience on the Bucks, Suns, Pacers and Nuggets, playing a total of 75 playoff games during his career.
Boston Celtics fans react to deal
Torrey Craig could be a useful addition for the Boston Celtics, who are just coming off a home loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
The Celtics are second in the Eastern Conference with a 36-16 record, and amid inconsistent play with 10 of those losses coming at home, getting a little extra help is welcome.
There was a positive reaction among Celtics fans to the news, with one writing: “Solid welcome to Boston.”

A third agreed, posting: “Torrey Craig is a good pick up he gives you a different option I think he can be a sneaky good add.”
And another wrote: “Torrey Craig is a great move man. Bench defense needed a boost and we got it.”
An excited fan posted: “Torrey Craig better actually get minutes! Hes a damn good 3 n d guy.”
“I think it’s a decent addition! From what I see, he plays well on both ends in limited minutes,” added another.
Why Chicago Bulls waived Torrey Craig
The Chicago Bulls are finally looking to reset towards a younger core, and 34-year-old Torrey Craig did not fit with their plans.
The decision to waive Torrey Craig came after Zach LaVine was traded away from the Bulls as part of the multi-team De’Aaron Fox deal.
The Bulls needed additional roster spots following the trade, and the decision was made to move on from Craig.
