The Atlanta Braves are being bitten by the injury bug quite hard this season. First, it was Ronald Acuna Jr. who suffered a season-ending injury. Then, Sean Murphy experienced a big blow to his elbow which could have him sidelined. Now, Jarred Kelenic looks like he was going to miss a significant amount of time after going down against the Boston Red Sox. Brian Snitker has a whole plate of problems that he needs to solve. But, it looks like one of them might not be as dire as the others.
Jarred Kelenic is reportedly okay and safe from any injuries. The Braves outfielder was chasing the ball and ended up rolling into the grass. It looked like he jammed his wrist on the way down for a catch and grimaced in pain. He needed to be escorted out and evaluated which prevented him from seeing a lot of playing time against the Red Sox. Apparently, his X-rays came back negative.
The Braves now no longer have to stress about the rotations that Brian Snitker will have to field. Even Jarred Kelenic unveiled that he is feeling much better after that unfortunate incident against the Red Sox, via Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“I think I got lucky. I just kind of jammed my wrist a little bit. Didn’t feel anything crazy, but I passed all the tests. It's just a little stiff right now, but I should be fine. Yeah, I thought I was going to go back out there,” the Braves outfielder said.
Looking back, he outlined what he felt during that crash in the sixth inning. Kelenic even affirmed that Brian Snitker and the rest of the Braves faithful have nothing to worry about.
“I had a good jump on it, and first it was my wrist, and then I was trying to feel for the ball at the same time. But it was just a tough situation, it happened so fast. I’m just happy that I’m feeling good,” he declared.
Braves' situation after the Red Sox series
The Braves would still get demolished by the Red Sox with a nine-to-zero scoreline. This means that their pursuit of trying to chase the Philadelphia Phillies for the top spot in the NL East has taken a setback. But, they do still have a seven-win cushion over the Washington Nationals.
All of this is not really the concern of Brian Snitker. He is just happy that there is no need to worry about injuries aside from Ronald Acuna Jr. and Sean Murphy's.
“Any time they leave their feet like that. I didn’t know if it was a wrist, shoulder, or whatever. He’s a very aggressive, really good outfielder, and he’s on the attack when he’s out there. I feel like we probably dodged a bullet right here,” the Braves manager said.
The Braves will continue their journey on the East Coast after this series against the Red Sox. They will match up with the Nationals next and then the Baltimore Orioles. Hopefully, they get Murphy back in action too.
