The Green Bay Packers made some splash moves in the 2025 NFL Draft. Of course, everyone is talking about the first wide receiver Green Bay has picked in the first round since 2002. However, going offense on their first three picks in the draft (two wide receivers) proved that the front office is ready to see fireworks on offense.
While Green Bay doesn’t expect to add more help at the position, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Alexander is still on the way out:
“A source familiar with the dealings between the Packers and Alexander said the Packers still were in the market to trade him and were waiting to see if a team might have interest after the draft,” Silverstein wrote.
“There is no plan for the Packers to bring Alexander back after deciding in February they were moving on and then shopping him to teams.”
Nate Hobbs was signed in free agency, but he is the only move the Packers have made at cornerback. Moving on from Alexander would create a major question mark in the secondary.
Over the last two years, Alexander has been unable to stay on the field. He has played in just seven games in each of the last two seasons.
During the 2024 campaign, the 28-year-old cornerback showed he can still play at a high level. In just seven games, Alexander racked up 16 tackles, a fumble recovery, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and seven defended passes.
In the times he’s healthy, he is still one of the most talented cornerbacks in the NFL. Green Bay simply seems to have run of patience.
