Breaking: Packers Star Receiving “Trade Interest” for NFL Draft

The Green Bay Packers star is still available on the trade block, but the team might have no choice and release him.

Green Bay Packers star cornerback Jaire Alexander is receiving trade interest just in time for the NFL Draft. According to a report, the secondary star is finally garnering interest this offseason, as the Pro Bowler hasn’t been able to live up to expectations. Alexander had one of the worst 2024 campaigns in the league, recording just 15 solo tackles, seven pass deflections and two interceptions in seven starts. However, injuries have been holding back the cornerback from performing the way the Packers were hoping, but the team wants a reasonable return.

It hasn’t been going as planned since most teams are waiting for him to be on the free-agent market. It does make sense why most teams are taking this route since he isn’t worth much to invest in, so a release shouldn’t be out of the cards. Alexander has two more years on his $21 million extension, and there probably won’t be any team to meet his asking price unless the next team fixes his contract. However, he hasn’t been making it easy on the team as Alexander refuses to do this, so the Packers might have no choice but to release him.

Alexander is not the greatest elite player he once was, but these four teams could revive him.

Possible Destinations

Baltimore Ravens

Last season, the Baltimore Ravens’ pass defense was one of the worst to start off the 2024 campaign. Despite that, even though the Ravens did well on offense, they could not make up for it on their defense, and that was a reason why they lost some of their games. Head Coach John Harbaugh made sure to upgrade its secondary trading for Tre’Davious White and elevate Ar’Darius Washington over Marcus Williams. They finally found their rhythm, but it wasn’t enough to stop quarterback Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.

Meanwhile, they may lose Marlon Humphrey sooner rather than later, as the Ravens are always low in cap space. Barring any miracle, he might be in a new uniform. They lost Brandon Stephens this offseason but made up for it with Chidobe Awuzie. Unfortunately, Awuzie is way past his prime and could be better off reviving Alexander back to give the 2024 draft pick Nate Wiggins some stability to grow.

Los Angeles Chargers

For the Chargers, they’ve done well, quickly finding a replacement after losing Kristian Fulton. Donte Jackson’s signing is a good step, but they can’t depend on someone like second-year Cam Hart. He had a lot of bright spots with Tarheeb Still and could grow into this secondary. Despite that, they’re not ready for full-time duties, so the Chargers could roll the dice on Alexander, similar to how they did to revive Fulton’s career last year.

New Orleans Saints

Unlike most teams, the New Orleans Saints need a cornerback in the worst possible way. After losing Marshon Lattimore and Paulson Adebo in one season, the Saints could use a temporary replacement like Alexander. Kool-Aid McKinstry can’t destroy the opposing offense’s aerial attack alone in the airfield, so Alexander could start fresh as a starter. He might not stay healthy, but the Saints are better off not having any type of cornerback.

Washington Commanders

However, the Washington Commanders are betting on cornerback Marshon Lattimore again. After losing Benjamin St-Juste, they could use another cornerback even though they signed Jonathan Jones. He’s more of a test, so they’re better off reviving Alexander like they did with linebacker Bobby Wagner and tight end Zach Ertz.
