BREAKING: The Green Bay Packers Move On From 25-Year-Old Defender (Report)

In their latest effort to field the most competitive roster possible in 2024, the Green Bay Packers made some moves on Tuesday.  While being a dark horse contender to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LIX, the Packers enter the season with high expectations.

Over the past few off-seasons, Green Bay has slowly become one of the league’s youngest teams.  There will, however, be no re-signing of one 25-year-old with the young Packers.

According to multiple sources, the Packers have moved on from 25-year-old cornerback Zyon Gilbert.

According to the Packers’ website:

(Gilbert) Re-signed by the Packers on Jan. 22, 2024.

Was signed to Green Bay’s practice squad on Oct. 25, 2023, and was with the team for the final 11 regular-season games and both postseason contests.  Originally signed by the Giants as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2022.

Was released on Aug. 30 and re-signed to the Giants’ practice squad on Aug. 31.  Spent the entire 2022 regular season and both postseason contests on the Giants’ practice squad.  Was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster for Weeks 13-14 and 17.

Was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster for the Giants’ postseason contest at Philadelphia, but was inactive (healthy scratch). Played in three games with one start as a rookie in 2022, posting 10 tackles (seven solo), a tackle for a loss, a sack, and a quarterback hit…Added four tackles on special teams.

It will be interesting to see if Gilbert remains with the team in any capacity or finds a new home elsewhere.
