Breece Hall injury update: NY Jets say no reason for concern about star RB

The NY Jets kicked off their spring OTAs a couple of weeks ago and one player who was notably working off to the side with trainers was running back Breece Hall.

Breece Hall

Hall has been sidelined for the entirety of OTAs to this point with an undisclosed injury, leading to some concern from Jets fans. On Tuesday, we received our first update on Hall's status.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh was asked by reporters about Hall's apparent injury, and Saleh revealed that his team's star running back has been dealing with some "lower-half stuff" that has kept him out of practice.

The good news is that Saleh relayed that Hall's injury is not expected to be a concern moving forward. The specifics of Hall's injury are unclear and we don't know exactly when he will return, but it apparently isn't something the team is concerned about.

The hope is that Hall could be back on the field by the start of mandatory minicamp on June 11th. That gives him another week to rest up and rehab before the final stretch of spring practices begins.

Hall suffered a torn ACL seven games into his rookie season that sidelined him for the majority of 2022. He returned in time fo rthe start of the 2023 season and proceeded to put together an incredible sophomore campaign.

Hall finished the year with 994 yards on 4.5 yards per carry while adding a whopping 76 catches for 591 yards in the air. The former Iowa State star ranked fourth among all players in total scrimmage yards, proving to be one of the most productive and dynamic offensive players in the NFL.

It's easy to forget that Hall did all of that, appearing in all 17 games, less than one year after tearing his ACL. Few players in NFL history have managed to find that level of success a year after suffering a major knee injury.

The Jets are expected to once again lean on Hall as the focal point of their offense in 2024, and with a revamped offensive line and a hopefully improved passing game, there's no reason his numbers shouldn't look even more impressive.

In the meantime, the Jets have been giving plenty of reps to rookie running backs Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis, both of whom have made the most of their increased playing time. Veteran Tarik Cohen has also worked a lot with the first-team offense, while Israel Abanikanda has been relegated to backup duty.

The Jets eagerly await Hall's return to the practice field, and if Saleh is to be believed, that return shouldn't be too far in the future.
