Former Vanderpump Rules star, and proud sports bar owner Jax Taylor, had a brief stint on House of Villains on E!. He was the first villain exiled from the house. During the season finale, Jax returned to share some startling information.
Just after Jax was eliminated, he got a call from his wife, Brittany Cartwright. “She’s like, crying on the phone … I’m panicking. Obviously, the timing … so I raced to Cedars, stayed there for two nights. Making sure my wife doesn’t have cancer, doesn’t have spinal issues, doesn’t have MS,” Jax explained. “Turns out, she had a small stroke. She’s 33.”
But was he speaking out of turn?
Jax didn’t have all the facts
On the couple’s podcast, When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany, he further explained how he found out about Brittany’s scary medical crisis. “I want to say 60 seconds after I was voted off, I got handed a phone. And it was my manager saying, ‘Listen, I didn’t want to call you because I know you’re filming right now but I feel like it’s necessary,'” Jax stated. “‘Brittany’s in the hospital. She collapsed.'”
The Pump Rules alum continued, “The doctors didn’t really know what it was. But it was stroke-like symptoms. I just assumed it was a stroke.” I guess Jax was doing Jax-like things with the truth again.
But Brittany called out her husband, reminding him that he made statements “without being sure” of all the facts. So, it was basically a Wednesday for Jax.
“We live in a day where every hour if you say something, people are going to criticize you like crazy about it. It’s crazy that people take everything you say literally,” Jax said. “I apologize. I shouldn’t have said that. It was a scary time.” I think people took it literally because you said your wife “had a small stroke.” Moving on.
Brittany still doesn’t have answers
“You shouldn’t have said it so matter of fact. I will say, this was terrifying for me,” Brittany stated. “My whole right side of my body went completely numb. I couldn’t even hold my cell phone up. I could barely walk.” She added, “I fell and bruised up my whole side because my right leg gave out. So, it was actually very, very scary.”
Thankfully, Brittany hasn’t experienced the symptoms again. But she has no diagnosis for what happened. “It was like an ongoing thing. They never really knew exactly what was wrong with me. It could have been stress-induced,” Brittany said. “It could have been a pinched nerve in my spine.”
Fingers crossed that Jax doesn’t ramp up Brittany’s stress level.
