Brittany Cartwright’s Main Reasons for Divorcing Jax Taylor

The Valley fans are waiting with bated breath for Season 2 to premiere. But one thing is certain: Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s divorce will play out in front of cameras. Viewers were not at all shocked by the news that the former Hooters girl had decided to file the paperwork to split from the Vanderpump Rules villain. The move seemed to be a long time coming, but Brittany is now speaking out for the first time.

It is no secret that the Bravosphere had behind-the-scenes bets on how long Brittany and Jax’s marriage would last. In all honesty, it was surprising to see a nice girl fall for the SUR bartender. But it turns out not everything was rainbows and butterflies behind closed doors. Brittany is currently under an NDA with the network due to filming. However, she took to her podcast, When Reality Hits, to shed some light on her situation. Brit said, “Okay, so it’s been a big week. I’m sure everyone listening has seen the news online by now that I filed for divorce from Jax.”

Brittany added “I unfortunately can’t speak on details because everything has been heavily documented on the show since we happen to be filming right now. You will see how everything plays out once the show airs, but I will say this. This season has been the most difficult season I have ever had to film.” Bravo fans have watched Jax and Brittany’s tumultuous relationship unfold on screen for years.

Between cheating scandals, getting fired from Vanderpump Rules, and opening a bar, the two lost their ability to communicate. Brittany told listeners,  “I never imagined I’d go through something so personal and painful while having the world watch. I’m not saying this for anyone to feel badly because I know that this is the life I chose and I’m so fortunate in many ways. But I will always want to be real with y’all. Many have said online they think this is a publicity stunt for the show. Or to garner ratings and it’s the furthest thing from that.”

Brittany went on to reveal what motivated her to file for divorce after four years of marriage. It turns out her son, Cruz, was the catalyst for her decision. The mother of one shared, “My decision to file wasn’t made lightly or quickly. It’s taken me many, many years to get to this point where I’ve gained enough courage and strength to do what was best for me. Brittany said she knew she had to “Get myself out of a toxic relationship and ultimately see my worth. It’s been very difficult but I’m stronger than ever, and my motivation is my son, my Cruzzy, who deserves a healthy and happy mommy.”

Brittany concluded her update by saying, “Moving forward, Jax and I will be doing the podcast separately. Thank you all so much for the support. I love you very much, and I hope that you enjoy an episode that has some of our best memories together from the past. Stay with us because we will get this together soon. I love you guys, and just hang in there with me. Thank you.” The 35-year-old noted in her divorce papers via People that she and Jax had been living separately since January 24th and listed “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.

Brittany has asked for primary legal and physical custody of their son, which would include visitation rights for Jax. In the paperwork, Brittany also asked that the court terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support to both herself and her ex. During a February podcast episode, Brittany last eluded to marriage issues when she told fans, “Many of you guys have been asking me about Jax and I and our relationship. I just think it’s important to be real and honest with you guys because our life is definitely — Yes, marriages in general are very hard, and I’ve had a particularly rough year this past year. Jax and I are taking time apart, and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health.”

For now, Brittany is concentrating on her future and not looking in the rearview mirror.
