The Denver Broncos exceeded expectations in 2024, thanks in large part to their rookie quarterback, Bo Nix.
He led the Broncos to a 10-7 record and a spot in the AFC playoffs as a wildcard team. He threw for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The team has to feel good about where they stand at QB heading into the 2025 season. In a new A to Z Sports mock draft, they give Nix precisely what he needs most to take another step forward as a player during his sophomore season.
Broncos draft Chargers star TE Colston Loveland in a new mock draft
"Sean Payton has talked ad nauseam about wanting to have a joker on the offensive side of the ball. Loveland can be that guy for the Broncos. He can be a mismatch tight end, kick out and be a power slot like both Michael Thomas and Marques Colston were back in the day, and find ways to get him matched up on defenders who can't keep up."
- New A to Z Sports mock draft
Sean Payton has shown what he can do to build an offensive game plan involving a top-tier receiving tight end. Go look up Jimmy Graham's highlight reel with the New Orleans Saints if you need any further proof. The Broncos have talent at wide receiver, but their tight end room is missing a difference maker that can be a security blanket for Bo Nix. Many view Penn State's Tyler Warren as the top TE in the 2025 NFL Draft class, but if a team is looking for the best-receiving option in the class, look no further than Colston Loveland.
Loveland displayed elite route running ability at Michigan and was a dynamic weapon despite the pass game never being the focus of their offense. Loveland seems the best acquitted in this class at hitting the road running as a pass catcher and making an immediate impact in that area. And I'm sure it would feel sweet for the Broncos to steal Loveland away from AFC West rivals the Los Angeles Chargers, who many believe are interested in reuniting Loveland with head coach Jim Harbaugh.
