The Denver Broncos met with North Carolina running back Omarion Hampton at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. Hampton confirmed the meeting during his media scrum on Friday.
Hampton is being projected by most draft analysts to be selected anywhere from mid-first round to early second round.
He finished this past season with 281 carries for 1,660 yards and 17 total touchdowns.
The Broncos stand out as one of many teams to potentially take a running back in round one, but is Hampton worth the value in the first round at No.20 overall?
Draft analyst Thor Nystrom from Fantasy Life believes, “There’s been talk the second running back [behind Jeanty] will get into the first round, I still have my skepticism about that because this running back class is so historically stacked. Besides Jeanty I don’t see why a team would be incentivized to take a running back in round one. Even Hampton. He’s going to put on a show on Saturday.”
The Broncos will continue to do their homework on running backs in this draft class, especially considering the imminent departure of former North Carolina running back Javonte Williams in free agency.
Audric Estime, Jaleel McClaughlin, Tyler Badie, and Blake Watson are the running back set to return for Denver in 2025.
