Despite Myles Garrett's dominant performance, turnovers and offensive struggles led to a tough 27-10 loss for the Browns against the Chargers.
The Cleveland Browns fell to the Los Angeles Chargers 27-10 at Huntington Bank Field on Sunday, where defensive efforts, highlighted by Myles Garrett’s three sacks, couldn’t overcome a series of offensive setbacks.
Garrett’s standout performance kept the Chargers’ offense under pressure throughout the game, but Cleveland’s own offensive struggles, particularly three interceptions by quarterback Jameis Winston, ultimately defined the outcome.
Trailing 20-3 at halftime, the Browns attempted to rally in the second half. Early in the third quarter, Cleveland put together a promising drive that moved them to the Chargers' 6-yard line. Faced with a crucial fourth-and-inches, Winston picked up the first down on a quarterback sneak, setting the Browns up in prime scoring position. But just two plays later, an end zone interception thwarted Cleveland’s scoring opportunity, leaving them still facing a significant deficit.
The Chargers responded to the Browns' missed chances. In the fourth quarter, running back J.K. Dobbins broke loose for a 34-yard run, setting up his own 7-yard touchdown that put the Chargers further ahead 27-3.
The Browns’ defense, which had managed six total sacks on Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, continued to fight, but their efforts went mostly unrewarded due to ongoing offensive issues. Browns offense would find a late touchdown to make the score 27-10 on a 17-yard pass to receiver Cedric Tillman.
Despite Garrett’s dominant display, Winston’s three interceptions would prove critical as Cleveland fell to 2-7, deepening their struggles in the AFC North. With turnovers and execution remaining major obstacles, the Browns will look to regroup and build on the positives from Garrett’s performance as they prepare for the second half of the season.
