It's been a rough season for the Cleveland Browns, who sit at 3-13, last place in the AFC North, and will head out for vacation following Week 18 with no playoff berth.
Cleveland has been plagued by injuries this year, but also poor play at key positions, with quarterback being the most glaring.
Deshaun Watson is likely out for the entirety of the 2025 season after a second Achilles tear in three months. But even if he was healthy enough to return, would he be the first option?
The Browns have started 40 quarterbacks since entering the league in 1999, and 14 signal callers since the beginning of 2017.
Another AFC team has equaled the Browns' struggles over on the East Coast, and that's the New York Jets. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has had a forgettable tenure in New York, tearing his Achilles on the fourth play of the season last year, and then returning this season to mediocrity.
Now, the Jets are expected to move on from Rodgers per Jordan Schultz.
"While further discussions are expected, the overwhelming belief is that the Jets are unlikely to move forward with Aaron Rodgers as their quarterback in 2025, sources to NFL on FOX," Schultz wrote. "With a new regime in place, many anticipate a fresh start, and a resolution is expected sooner rather than later."
Could the Browns be in play for Rodgers? We would think his options are limited with his current age and last year's performance. But he could be a fit for Cleveland if they draft a young player to sit behind Rodgers for a season.
Watson most likely has played his last down in Cleveland and maybe even in the NFL, and Rodgers isn't far behind. But could he have one more year behind an improved offensive line with the Browns?
