Whether he is on the team next year or not, it is clear that the Cleveland Browns need to move on from Deshaun Watson as the team’s starting quarterback. Watson has had the chance to show his worth over three seasons and hasn’t been able to yet.
Cleveland is 2-7 and coming off of their bye week, there is a legit chance the Browns could end with a top-five pick, which may put them in prime position to draft a quarterback.
In a recent full-round mock draft by A to Z Sports’ Ian Valentino, the Browns passed on a quarterback in the first round and selected Penn State’s Abdul Carter. Drafting Carter didn’t stop the Browns from finding their quarterback, though.
Cleveland Browns select Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart No. 36 overall in Round 2
If you are going off terms of efficiency, there isn’t a better quarterback in this class than Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart. Dart is completing 71 percent of his passes and has a 22-3 touchdown to interception ratio. A gutsy performance against to best Georgia without top wide receiver Tre Harris was impressive from Dart.
There is a legit chance that Dart ends up being a first-round quarterback. This is not a good class overall and he is right there not far off of guys like Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward who are being mocked in the first round.
Dart has played in 44 career games and has north of 11,000 career passing yards. After starting six games as a rookie for USC, Dart has been with Ole Miss for the last three seasons. The talented quarterback has a chance to raise his stock in a potential College Football Playoff run with the Rebels.
While some may not like the idea of a quarterback in Round 2, Dart has a chance to be a big steal at this spot if he is there. The talent certainly is.
